National College of Nursing Minimum Percentage 

1. Minimum Percentage for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing):

• It is a four-year undergraduate program designed for students who have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English.

• After graduation, students can work as staff nurses, ICU nurses, or nursing supervisors in both private and government hospitals. 

• This course also provides eligibility to pursue higher studies like Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing or M.Sc. Nursing.

2. Minimum Percentage for Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing

• It is a two-year program for candidates who have already completed their GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) diploma and are registered as nurses and midwives (RN/RM) with the State Nursing Council. 

• Applicants must also have passed their 10+2 in any stream, and most institutions require around 50% aggregate marks in the GNM course.

• It is a two-year postgraduate program available to students who have completed a B.Sc. Nursing with at least 55% marks and have one year of work experience in clinical or teaching settings. 

• Applicants must also be registered with a State Nursing Council. You can dive into stuff like Medical-Surgical Nursing, Paediatrics, OB-GYN, Community Health, or even the wild world of Psychiatric Nursing.

National College of Nursing eligibility criteria

1. Educational Qualification Requirements (Course-wise)

The minimum educational requirement varies depending on the course:

• B.Sc. Nursing (Basic): Candidates must have completed 10+2 (PUC) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (PCBE). It is mandatory to have studied these subjects to be eligible for the nursing stream.

• Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing: Applicants should have passed General Nursing and Midwifery and must have completed 10+2 in any stream. Even arts or commerce streams are acceptable here.

• M.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must have completed either a B.Sc. Nursing (Basic) or Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an INC-recognized college or university.

2. Minimum Percentage Required

Each program has specific minimum marks that must be met:

• B.Sc. Nursing: Requires a minimum of 45%  in physics, chemistry, biology, and English for the general category. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the requirement is 40–45%, depending on the state reservation norms.

• Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing: A minimum of 50% marks is expected in the GNM program.

• M.Sc. Nursing: Candidates must have obtained 55% marks in their B.Sc. (Nursing) degree. Reserved category candidates may be eligible with 50%.

3. Registration and Licensing Requirements (for PB & M.Sc. Nursing)

• For admission into Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and M.Sc. Nursing, it is mandatory for candidates to be Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RN/RM) with a recognized State Nursing Council. 

• This confirms that the candidate has practical experience and is officially recognized to practice nursing.

• Without this RN/RM registration, a candidate is not eligible for these advanced nursing programs.

4. Age Limit and Experience Criteria

• B.Sc. Nursing: The minimum age for admission is 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission. There's usually no upper age limit, but some universities may have one.

• M.Sc. Nursing: Apart from educational qualifications, candidates must have at least 1 year of work experience in a clinical or teaching setting. This experience can be gained after a B.Sc. in Nursing, before or after a Post Basic B.Sc. in Nursing.

• This work experience ensures that the student has practical exposure and is ready for higher-level responsibilities.

5. Recognition of Qualification and University Affiliation

• All qualifications (10+2, GNM, B.Sc. Nursing) must be from institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and State Nursing Councils and in affiliation with universities like RGUHS (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences). 

• If a candidate has studied in a different state or country, they may need to obtain an equivalency certificate or a migration certificate.
