Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences Scholarships are thoughtfully designed to honor the Gandhian ideal of inclusive education, ensuring that passionate thinkers from all walks of life can access our world-class facilities in Manipal. Through the provision of different merit-based and need-aware financial aid packages, the centre promotes a diverse academic community in which lived experience is accorded the same value as academic excellence. These scholarships are thoughtfully designed to honor the Gandhian ideal of inclusive education, ensuring that passionate thinkers from all walks of life can access our world-class facilities in Manipal. The Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences Scholarships at Manipal operates on a placement philosophy that is as distinct as its curriculum. Unlike the high-volume corporate placement drives seen in technical fields, the GCPAS Placement Cell focuses on "niche placements" and specialized career curation. Scholar and Achiever Scholarships: "Scholar" awards are granted at the very beginning of your journey, based on your MET ranks and an 80%+ aggregate in your board exams. Once you are part of the MIC family, the "Achiever" awards take over, recognizing the top annual performers from the second year onwards. Board Toppers Scholarship: A dedicated waiver for the top three rank holders from various state and central boards (CBSE, ISC, IB) who have secured at least 90% aggregate in their 12th standard. Category-Specific Grants: Specialized financial support is available for children of MAHE alumni, students from the Academy of General Education (SAGES), and wards of Indian Armed Forces and Paramilitary personnel. Merit-Cum-Means Support: MMC-Scholarship Merit-Cum-Means support enables our less privileged students to strive and excel in this competitive world of media education. We seek to build a campus where the only things that should determine success are your ideas and your work, not your bank balance. Freeship Scholarship: This is the most prestigious tier, offering a 100% waiver on the course fee. Scholar Scholarship: Aimed at the next tier of high achievers, this provides a 20% fee waiver. To qualify, UG students generally need an aggregate of 80% in 10+2, while PG students need 70% in their Bachelor's degree. Achiever Scholarship: If you rank in the top 5% of your class at MIC, you can receive a significant waiver for that academic year, provided you have no backlogs and maintain a stellar CGPA. The placement cell at GCPAS functions more as a Career Mentorship Hub rather than a traditional administrative unit. Faculty-Led Referrals: Placement support is heavily driven by the department's faculty, many of whom are veterans in journalism (like The Hindu and Deccan Herald) and the social sector. Skill Workshops: The cell organizes specialized sessions on Art Journalism, Cultural Management, and Grant Writing skills that are essential for the 2026 humanities job market. One of the most humanizing aspects of the college administration is how they walk you through the complex world of government paperwork. SSP (State Scholarship Portal): The college office helps you register on the portal to access post-matric scholarships for SC, ST, and OBC categories. NSP (National Scholarship Portal): For students from minority communities (Christian, Muslim, Sikh, etc.), the college facilitates applications for central government schemes that can cover a significant portion of the annual cost. Fee Reimbursement Schemes: For students whose family income falls below certain thresholds (typically ₹2.5 Lakhs per annum), the college assists in filing for government fee reimbursements, which can sometimes reduce the effective tuition to a very nominal amount. Academic Excellence Incentives: We celebrate your hard work by offering significant fee concessions for high achievers, with special rewards often starting for those who score above 90% or 95% in their qualifying exams. Local Plantation Grants: Given our location, students from families connected to the coffee industry can often apply for Coffee Board Scholarships, providing a unique layer of local financial support. As a department within the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), the centre goes beyond the usual Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences Eligibility Criteria of standardized testing to look for "writers with wisdom" who are interested in discovering the connections between philosophy, art, and ecology. Stream Flexibility: Students from any stream, Arts, Commerce, or Science,e are welcome to apply, reflecting the interdisciplinary nature of the course. Holistic Assessment: Admission is not based on marks alone; candidates must submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and clear a Personal Interview (PI) to demonstrate their interest in peace studies and the arts. M.A. in Media and Communication as a minimum cutoff to apply is 50% aggregate marks in your graduation. If you are in your final year of college, you can still apply, provided you can produce your final mark sheets by the specified university deadline. Interview Process is like the UG track, PG admission heavily weighs the Personal Interview and the applicant's articulated vision in their SOP. GCPAS attracts a global student body, and the Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences Eligibility Criteria for international applicants are tailored to meet global standards. Visa and Documentation: Valid passports and student visas are mandatory before the finalization of the admission process.
