Manipal Institute of Communication Scholarships offer more than just a significant reduction in tuition fees, as identifying the recipient of such an award will often ensure that he or she is motivated to continue performing well throughout the degree. From the prestigious "Scholar" and "Achiever" awards to specialized grants for the wards of defense personnel and Konkani-speaking students, these opportunities are structured to reward dedication. For the 2026-2027 academic year, the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) has designed a robust suite of scholarships. Manipal Institute of Communication Scholarships believes that every storyteller, animator, and communication strategist deserves a chance to shine, regardless of their economic starting point. Scholar and Achiever Scholarships: "Scholar" awards are granted at the very beginning of your journey, based on your MET ranks and an 80%+ aggregate in your board exams. Once you are part of the MIC family, the "Achiever" awards take over, recognizing the top annual performers from the second year onwards. Board Toppers Scholarship: A dedicated waiver for the top three rank holders from various state and central boards (CBSE, ISC, IB) who have secured at least 90% aggregate in their 12th standard. Category-Specific Grants: Specialized financial support is available for children of MAHE alumni, students from the Academy of General Education (SAGES), and wards of Indian Armed Forces and Paramilitary personnel. Merit-Cum-Means Support: MMC-Scholarship Merit-Cum-Means support enables our less privileged students to strive and excel in this competitive world of media education. We seek to build a campus where the only things that should determine success are your ideas and your work, not your bank balance. Freeship Scholarship: This is the most prestigious tier, offering a 100% waiver on the course fee. Scholar Scholarship: Aimed at the next tier of high achievers, this provides a 20% fee waiver. To qualify, UG students generally need an aggregate of 80% in 10+2, while PG students need 70% in their Bachelor's degree. Achiever Scholarship: If you rank in the top 5% of your class at MIC, you can receive a significant waiver for that academic year, provided you have no backlogs and maintain a stellar CGPA. Merit-Cum-Means Support: If your combined parental income is less than ₹8 Lakhs per annum, and you have secured a strong rank in the MET, you are eligible for up to a 50% to 100% waiver, depending on your exact merit position. Performance Benchmarks: Usually, this means keeping a CGPA of 8.0 or 8.5 throughout the duration of the course. Konkani Speaking Students: To preserve and promote our local roots, students who can provide a certificate proving their mother tongue is Konkani are eligible for a 10% to 15% tuition fee waiver. Children of MAHE Alumni: Children of alumni receive a 10% concession on the annual course fee as a gesture of lifelong community belonging. Military and Paramilitary Wards: Children of serving or retired Indian Defense and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel are eligible for merit scholarships. Divyaang (Differently Abled) Scholarship: In accordance with national guidelines and our own inclusive values, we offer a 20% fee waiver to students with a valid Government Divyang certificate. Manipal Institute of Communication Eligibility Criteria is whether you are coming from a science, commerce, or arts background. We look at your previous grades, but we also value your performance in our entrance evaluations and personal interactions. B.A. (Hons.) Media and Communication: To qualify for this flagship program, you must have successfully passed your Class 12, A-Level, IB, or American 12th Grade (or equivalent) from a recognized board. B.Sc. Animation: The baseline eligibility is a pass in Class 12 or equivalent with at least 45% aggregate marks. B.A.: Similar to other UG courses, you need a 45% aggregate in 10+2. For this program, we specifically look for "visual thinkers" who can handle both the creative and the strategic sides of digital media. M.A. in Media and Communication: The minimum cutoff to apply is 50% aggregate marks in your graduation. If you are in your final year of college, you can still apply, provided you can produce your final mark sheets by the specified university deadline. PG Diplomas: For our one-year specialized diplomas in Sports, Corporate, or Health Communication, a graduation degree in any field is the standard requirement. Equivalency through AIU: This ensures your international diploma (like a High School Diploma from the USA or GCE A-Levels) matches the Indian 10+2 or degree requirements. English Proficiency: Since all courses at MIC are taught in English, international students may be asked to provide proof of proficiency through tests like IELTS or TOEFL if their previous medium of instruction was not English. NRI Sponsored Category: Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under this category. The Entrance Factor: For PG courses, appearing for the Manipal Entrance Test (MET) or providing a valid CUET-PG score is a mandatory part of the eligibility cycle. Portfolio and PI: For creative streams like Animation, your eligibility for the final merit list depends on your Home-Based Test (HBT) and Personal Interview (PI).
