Candidate’s Name Roll Number Application Number Date of Birth Nationality & Category Total Marks Obtained Marks Secured in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Percentile Score NEET All India Rank (AIR) Qualifying Status NEET Cut-Off Score Visit our website for more details on the NEET Result Date 2025. The NEET 2025 cutoff differs with categories, and it changes annually based on factors such as: Number of test-takers Difficulty level of the paper Seat availability The maximum marks in NEET are 720. The NEET 2025 cutoff is expected to be similar to 2023 and 2024 unless there's a major shift in the exam pattern or difficulty. After the results, NTA will publish the All India Merit List based on candidates’ marks and percentile scores. There are two types of ranks: This rank is employed for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and central institutions such as AIIMS & JIPMER, etc. Used for admissions under 85% State Quota seats. State authorities prepare this list based on the NEET result and their reservation policies. Note: NTA does not conduct counseling. It only provides ranks and results. Also, check our website for information on AIIMS PG. Each year, lakhs of candidates attend the NEET, & limited marks mean multiple students to score the exact total mark. To ensure fair ranking, the National Testing Agency (NTA) follows a well-defined set of tie-breaking rules for NEET 2025. These rules are applied sequentially, and only if the previous step fails to break the tie, the next criterion is considered. Let’s look at each of these tie-breakers in detail: The first criterion NTA looks at is the marks of the candidates in Biology, comprising Botany and Zoology. Since Biology carries the highest weightage in the NEET exam (360 out of 720 marks), a candidate with a higher score in this section will be ranked above others with the same overall marks. Example: Candidate A and Candidate B both score 655 overall. Candidate A: Biology - 340 Candidate B: Biology - 330 Candidate A will get the higher rank. If the overall NEET score for 2 candidates is identical Biology scores, their marks in Chemistry will be compared. The one with a higher Chemistry score is placed above the other in the merit list. Example: If both have 340 in Biology, but Candidate A scores 170 in Chemistry and Candidate B scores 165. Candidate A gets a better rank. If candidates are tied on both Biology and Chemistry marks, the next factor considered is the number of incorrect attempts made by each candidate in the exam. The candidate with fewer wrong answers in the entire paper (PCB) is given priority. Example: Candidate A made 12 mistakes overall, while Candidate B made 10 mistakes. Candidate B ranks higher due to fewer incorrect answers. If the results of all academic criteria lead to a tie, then the age of the candidate is used. The older candidate is given preference. This rule is based on the principle of giving priority to seniority in age & when qualifications are equal. Example: Candidate A is born in May 2007, and Candidate B in January 2007. Candidate B will be ranked higher. At last, if none of the above factors satisfy the tie, NTA uses the candidate’s application number in ascending order to break the tie. This means the candidate whose application number is numerically lower will be placed higher in the merit list. Note: This step is rarely reached, as the previous tie-breakers usually resolve the rank positions. Click here to download the NEET result 2025 PDF.
